Kimora: The Relationship Whisperer

From www.StyleNetwork.com/HouseofFab
Last night's episode of Kimora: House of Fab was hilarious and perfect timing what with today being Valentine's Day.  I suspect that as meticulous as Kimora is, that is no coincidence. Hey, look, she even has a heart on her tee!

The team was hard at work on a shoot for a new commercial and in the process Kimora played matchmaker for Lesley, JustFab's Director of Merchandise.  Lesley didn't seem too excited and I'm guessing that it didn't work out, but such is life and Kimora offers some great, sound advice for navigating the dating world on Style Network's website.  As I watched the episode, I reflected upon how delicate a dance it is to work a very demanding job and maintain an active social life.  It's tough, especially when you have great work ethic, but it's necessary.  It's so easy to find yourself feeling guilty about taking a vacation because, "There's so much to do" or "They're just going to mess things up while I'm away" and the list goes on and on.  But, guess what?  If you keel over and die at that job, they'll call 911 to come and scoop your carcass up, mop up the floor, spray a little Lysol and find a replacement for you within a month's time.  Seriously.

That's difficult to believe when you're engrossed in your work and you know that you are a great asset, but it's the truth.  I lost a very dear mentor recently and I know that it was stress that drove her to the final toll booth on life's highway.  Gosh, that almost sounds funny, but I'm really not trying to be humorous at this very moment and I'd like to wrap this post up with just a few bits of advice, because her rapid sickness and ultimate death has shaken me to my core.  Go hard, maintain a good work ethic and truly care about your work product...but, care about you too. Women, of a certain standard, tend to place a greater burden upon themselves.  We have to prove ourselves so often in this still male-dominated world that we often end up doing ourselves more harm than good in the process.  There isn't a job on Earth worth dying for, except maybe that of being a mom. :)

Happy Valentine's Day and don't forget to tune into Kimora: House of Fab on the Style Network every Wednesday at 9pm. Now, get into this throwback tune below in honor of Kimora's "they're not used to working with a G like me!" declaration during tonight's episode. --Sugar
